Region 6 Migrant Education Team through its dedicated and committed staff, will provide supplemental services that encourage educational opportunities leading to empowerment and success in the lives of migrant students and their families.
Intent and Purpose of the Title I, Part C Migrant Program
Districts in the Title I, Part C Migrant SSA have selected Region 6 ESC as the fiscal agent for this fund source in the NCLB Consolidated Application for Federal Funds. The migrant education program provides supplemental services to local education agencies to help ensure migrant children succeed in the regular school program, meet state content and performance standards and graduation requirements. Region 6 ESC provides leadership, professional development and technical assistance to participating districts that select Region 6 ESC as their fiscal agent.
ESC Region 6 receives some additional funding from the Texas Education Agency to provide technical assistance and training to districts in support of migrant program services. Some of these services include identification and recruitment of eligible migrant students and families including out of school youth, quality control of migrant related PEIMS data elements and corresponding New Generation System data, and validation of Certificates of Eligibility for migrant students and families.
These state services are provided at no cost to districts.
