This online platform is designed to support early childhood educators in their efforts to provide high-quality instruction and learning for their young students. The framework includes a sequence and scope of content based on the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines. Utilizing the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines as a foundation, this framework is aligned with the Kindergarten Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). It provides early childhood educators with content and sequencing clarification and unpacks the Prekindergarten End-of-Year Outcomes. As a result, the Pre-K Outcomes Framework facilitates developmentally appropriate planning and instruction to help prepare all children for success in kindergarten and beyond.
PLANNED, PURPOSEFUL AND PLAYFUL LEARNING
Within the framework are Prekindergarten Annual Overviews for each of the following core content areas: English Language Arts (Emergent Literacy-Reading, Emergent Literacy-Writing, and Language and Communication), Math, Science, and Social Studies. At a glance, these overviews provide a roadmap for annual outcome sequencing. Each Prekindergarten Annual Overview supports the corresponding content in the Purposeful Planning Guides.
PLANNING GUIDES CONTAIN
Used in conjunction with a state-adopted prekindergarten curriculum, the Pre-K Outcomes Framework can support early childhood educators in planning relevant and comprehensive learning experiences, administer developmentally appropriate assessments, and make informed instructional decisions that prepare young learners for their futures.
